How to Create a Logo on Canva in 5 Steps

How to create a logo on Canva for personal or commercial use? A logo is a special part of your business, even though you own only a small business. A logo is going to help your customers know you. It will also show that you own a professional and serious business.

To get a professional logo, there are two ways to choose from. Hiring a graphic designer is the easiest one. A graphic designer is going to let you get a cool logo but you need to give them a bunch of money. Another way to get a cool logo is by making it yourself with Canva.

How to Create a Logo on Canva for Your Business

Before opening a new document in Canva, pause a while and think about what kind of logo you will make. What the logo is going to represent? What style and colors will be used in the logo? Do you have any inspiration for your own logo? Answer those questions then follow these steps.

1. Select the right template

Click the Logo Maker option in Canva and then let the software show you a new blank document with 500px x 500px dimensions. Scroll the left side of your screen where you can find various templates for animated logos and static logos.

Under the Templates tab, there are some keywords to choose from. Those keywords will let you browse through the most famous logo designs. For example, if you own a food business, click the Food keyword to see all related templates. Pick one you like the most.

2. Modify the logo’s colors

A business logo will be special and successfully represent your brand if the colors match all your marketing materials. One to three colors of your logo, business cards, website, social media, and packaging should be the same.

After choosing a template, change the colors so that they are going to reflect your business. Don’t forget to change the colors of the icons. The Canvas Design tab is going to let new businesses choose a color palette to create a brand-new professional logo with the best color combinations.

3. Pick the best font

The third step on how to create a logo on Canva is choosing the best font for your logo. Double-click that text to replace it with your tagline and brand name. Don’t use more than two colors when you make a logo text. The font you use on the logo should be similar to other branded materials.

Pick a font for your business name and make it stand out. Then, the tagline deserves a standard font so that people will focus on the brand name first. Make sure that the color of the text also matches the colors of your branded materials.

4. Play with the text and icons

How to create a logo on Canva with no graphic design experience? Then don’t mess with your logo too much since it is going to result in less professional logo design. Try playing with some different elements that match your vision.

For example, move individual elements and make them smaller or bigger. You can also change those elements’ opacity. Moreover, consider picking various icons available on the Elements tab. Hit Graphics where cool icons that will match your brand can be found.

5. Make different sizes and versions

You may believe that a circle logo is the best for your brand. However, consider making some different versions of that logo. Hit the Duplicate button on the page and then adjust the position, size, and color of the duplicate logo to make a new version.

One of those versions should be black and white. Another one should have a bigger icon with smaller text. Compare those logos and you will be able to choose the best one for your product. You may also want to invert the colors and see what the new logo will look like.
