1. About the Krasheninnikov Volcano

The Kamchatka Peninsula is the home of over 300 volcanoes. However, only 29 of them are active. Meanwhile, Krasheninnikov has been inactive for almost 600 years.

The Krasheninnikov is a complex of two volcanoes located on the eastern coast of Kamchatka. The highest summit of this volcano is approximately 1,800 m above sea level.

Moreover, the southern and northern edifices of the Krasheninnikov Volcano have summit craters of different sizes. The former is smaller than the latter. The summit crater of the latter also has a low cone. From above, the Krasheninnikov seems to have three summits. 

2. The 2025 Krasheninnikov Volcano Eruption

On August 3, 2025, Krasheninnikov suddenly erupted. This explosion occurred only 4 days after the megathrust earthquake in the Kamchatka Peninsula. It was also its first eruption in six centuries.

Based on volcano eruption recent news, Krasheninnikov emitted an ash plume as high as 6,000 km or approximately 4,000 km above its summit. Moreover, the ash cloud drifted toward the Pacific. Consequently, no casualty reports came from this disaster.

The lava from this volcano flew out of the northern cone and filled the crater around the summit. Approximately one square kilometer of the crater area was covered with lava from Krasheninnikov.

1. Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, Indonesia

At the end of 2023, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in Indonesia had a massive eruption. The eruption injured over 60 people, killed 10 people, and damaged nearby villages.

Since then, Mount Lewotobi has not slowed its volcanic activity down. It erupted several times in July. The most recent eruption was on August 18. That day, this volcano emitted a massive ash plume.

This ash column was towering over the summit at a height of over 6,000 m above sea level. Due to this enormous ash cloud, the authorities closed nearby airports and canceled several flights. However, there were no reports on casualties from this eruption.

2. Mount Kilauea, Hawaii

In December 2024, Mount Kilauea started to increase its volcanic activity. In the same month, this volcano erupted for the first time that year. After that, Mount Kilauea emitted hot lava several times.

On August 6, 2025, a lava fountain gushed out of this volcano. According to the record, it was the 30^th eruption since December. This August eruption lasted for 12 hours. At that time, the highest lava fountain recorded was 50 m. 

According to the USGS, Mount Kilauea’s volcanic activity remains high. The authority also predicted that this volcano will erupt again between August 22 and 25.

3. Mount Telica, Nicaragua

Another volcano erupted recently is Mount Telica in Nicaragua. On August 7, this volcano emitted an ash plume from its summit. The ash cloud is about 1,500 m tall. Moreover, this eruption lasted to August 8.

4. Reykjanes, Iceland

In the mid of July, the Sundhnukur crater in Reykjanes Volcano erupted. Since then, this volcano has shown active volcanic activity and erupted several times.

Due to the Reykjanes eruption, the local government evacuated people from the nearest towns. Nonetheless, this eruption did not cause casualties or damage. In addition, on August 5, the local authorities declared that the Sundhnukur no longer erupted.
