2. Floods in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra (February 11, 2026)

This rainy season, flash floods have struck Central Tapanuli several times. The first flood was the deadly flashflood in November 2025. Another one was on February 11, 2026. The cause of this hazard is torrential rains and a broken river embankment.

According to the flood news in Indonesia, this latest flash flood is almost similar to the first. Muddy floodwater rapidly submerged several villages in Tukka Subdistrict, bringing along numerous logs.

The news also reported that extreme rainfall had caused another flash flood in this region on February 16. This hazard spread to several subdistricts, including Tukka, Barus, and Pasaribut Tobing.

3. Floods in Tegal, Central Java (February 11, 2026) 

During this rainy season, floods have struck Tegal several times. The latest inundation occurred from February 11 to 16. Prior to the flood, this region experienced heavy rains. 

The excessive rainwater caused several rivers to overflow nearby villages, including Sidaharja, Jatimulya, and Pakulaut. This flood inundated hundreds of houses from 0.5 m to 1.5 m. This hazard affected more than 600 people. It also damaged a bridge.

Update on the Deadly Flashflood in Sumatra, Indonesia

At the end of 2025, the worst flood in Indonesia hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. This hazard buried thousands of houses in mud and numerous logs. It also triggered landslides, leading to the disappearance of several villages.

According to the report, roughly 26,000 people were still living in temporary shelters three months after the disaster. This condition occurred because their houses were still buried in mud.
